Sample Band 7 Answer
The fear of atom bombs keeps nations away from using them and nuclear plants produces energy at low cost, without emitting high amounts of greenhouse gases. Still, nuclear technologies trigger anxiety all over the world. However, in this essay I argue that the gains of these technologies are way bigger than the drawbacks.
Since the discovery of our influence on the climate through emission of gases like carbon dioxide, scientists have been searching for cleaner solutions for energy production. Nuclear plants are a good example of an environment friendly energy source. For producing megajoules of energy only little resources are needed, mostly just a few grams of uranium. In addition, compared to traditional power plants, the emission of greenhouse gases is extremely low While some people fear a disaster if one of these nuclear plants explode, this risk is way lower than the risk on the hazards that may result from global warming. Consequently, because climate change is irreversible, nuclear power is a good solution until a better technology is invented.
Another example of a nuclear technology is used in warfare. Many of the greatest powers on this earth have several atom bombs or H-bombs. While this may not seem like a good development, these weapons have not been used since the second World War. Scientists argue that this is due to the theory of mutual destruction. This means that when a nation launches a nuclear missile, this country will face total destruction by nuclear weapons from other nations. Therefore, launching nuclear weapons practically implies suicide. Hence, owning nuclear weapons is the best defense against begin struck by them. As a result, this equilibrium causes world peace, instead of threatening it.
All in all, I agree with the fact that nuclear technology can be extremely hazardous. However, the advantages of nuclear energy far outweigh the risks that global warming induce. Also, while nuclear weapons are the most dangerous means in warfare, they lead to a good balance between great powers, which makes sure our world peace stays intact.

What is the purpose of “however” in the introduction? “Way bigger” is a feature of spoken English. TA – are nuclear plants environmentally friendly? It’s as if you have written 2 essays, One about energy & another about weapons. You don’t combine the two in the conclusion.// CC – paragraphing isn’t wholly logical (you write in points mostly) and there is only one use of cohesion// LR -there’s plenty of strong collocation and despite a few odd phrases ( a good development) most of the language use is natural// G – there are a couple of minor errors that can be regarded as slips rather than gaps in grammar knowledge
