Write about the following topic:
Should wealthy nations be required to share their wealth among poorer nations by providing such things as food and education? Or is it the responsibility of the governments of poorer nations to look after their citizens themselves.
Use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and with relevant evidence.
Include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience to back up your answer.
Write a minimum of 250 words.
Sample Band 7 Answer
Whether prosperous countries should be obligated to spend part of their money to provide necessities of developing countries or underdeveloped countries should be taking care of their own people will be discussed in this essay.
Not all countries across the globe are equally bestowed with the same amount of capital. In fact natural resources, population, environmental conditions are distributed unevenly among the countries making some stand out among others and others to suffer from economic problems. As the world heads toward globalization, it is best interest of the rich countries to provide the poor countries with their needs and help them build their infrastructures so that they can be self-sustained and take steps towards development. For instance, Afghanistan, a war torn and land-locked country, was donated billions of dollars by international community in order to enable it to stand on its feet and fight against universal adversaries and threats.
Others think that instead of funding other countries, developed countries must spend the amount to make them stronger and create more opportunities. According to them, poverty struck countries are so incapacitated that they will never be able to make a good use of financial aids instead they should themselves fight back and pave the way for the improvement of the situation in the country.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that no single country is able to go through the difficulty the world comes across. For example, if it was not for the aid received by the European countries after World War II from the United States under marshal plan, they tremendously would had to struggle to reach where there are today.

Where is this question from. please? Which of the 4 standard Task 2 question types do you think it falls into? TA – an example in the conclusion? But no relevant example in para 3. You say you firmly believe… but can the reader understand why? Para 3 has only 2 sentences so there is no development of ideas// LR – good // G – you mainly write a series of statements so there could be a greater range of sentence patterns. Articles are an issue in some places and there are a couple of clumsy sentences// Its difficult to assess this question. If it is taken from a recent actual exam.then you have answered well even though it sounds like a political speech, But if the question is from a website or unknown source, dont use their material again. Id say: TA – 7 (being generous?)// CC – 6 (being strict)// LR – 8 (close to 9)// G – 7 (too many article errors to be 8)// = 7.0.
